NHL 19 – HUT Line Combination Traits Concept

The concept of player specific chemistries / traits is not a novel idea. The Madden MUT franchise has incorporated player specific ability chemistries that can change the way the player performs on the field. For example, there is a Chemistry called “Never Stumble” and it serves to automatically prevent your running back from falling to the ground while stumbling. Typically, when controlling a player without the never stumble chemistry, you would have to manually use the right stick to keep them on their feet.

The FIFA FUT series has utilized the concept of “Player Traits.” EA has not been as candid with how the Player Traits impact the players performance in FUT. Some traits are more self explanatory than others, such as “avoids weaker foot.” Others, including but not limited to playmaker, finesse shot and power header are less clear on how they impact the card’s performance. Even more specifically, we are not able to view how these traits change the in-game stats. The NHL series should consider a line-based traits system.

Madden 19 – The Marcus Mariota Rating Scandal

With over 3,200 career passing yards and a playoff win under his belt it seems odd that he would be rated lower than two Cleveland Quarterbacks and on par with the likes of Bradford. The Titans’ Twitter account took to arms and requested that his rating be reconsidered in a post that included one of Mariota’s viscous stiff arms.

HUT – NHL 17 and NHL 18 Division 1 Championship Rosters

Better late than never. Another year is almost completely in the books and HC Turbo has managed to secure it’s third consecutive Division One Title on the Playstation 4. The ’16 and ’17 Titles were won playing no money spent with the standard edition of the game. This past season, I purchased the NHL 18 Young Stars edition of the game and benefited from a free pack per week and the pre-order bonuses to start the game’s life cycle.

I thought it would be fun to compare my Championship Rosters from ’17 and ’18.

FIFA 18: FUT Year-in-Review

FIFA ’19 is just around the corner. This post will take a look at FIFA 18 and assess the following: (1) Game-play; (2) Content; and (3) Pay-to-Win Factor.

Game-play

The game-play to start off FIFA ’18 was close to brilliant. It forced you to defend manually and the pace of the game felt great. This made formations other than the 4-1-2-1-2 narrow useful. The major flaw was goal keeping, which did need to be tweaked following release. This all changed with the release of the very first patch. The patch essentially reverted the game-play back to the AI reliant styles of FIFA ’17.

Titans win by 2 (True): While Watson adds an interesting element to the Texans, I don’t think it’s enough to stop the Titans. The Titans are better nearly across the board (D-line excluded) and I continue to think people are underrating them because of a week 1 loss to Oakland. Titan up! MUT OVR Tiers

At the start of the season, EA promised to lower the OVR rating of cards and lowered the elite threshold from 85 to 80. With the addition of TL exchange sets and Flashbacks, a flood of 86+ rated cards have entered the market. Recent developments have made the new elite threshold 85 OVR, the same as previous years. The remainder of the post looks at player card OVRs  and ranks them into 5 tiers.

MUT Predictor Picks – Clam’s Crystal Ball Week 3

Off the top I’m Chris, a.k.a Clammers, here to help make all the correct predictions for the week. I appear on a podcast known as 4th Take which takes you around the NFL’s hot takes and gambling picks for the week. All stats you’ll see referenced here can either be found on Footballoutsiders.com , espn.com, or in your heart so you know they’re true.

Ravens win by 4+ (True): Through two games, Ravens defenders have combined to catch as many passes (10) as any WR on the team, but they’re 2-0 and play another brutal passing attack in the Jags. A “home” game from Jacksonville, it won’t matter, Ravens with a 3rd routine win.  Continue reading “MUT Predictor Picks – Clam’s Crystal Ball Week 3”
