MUT Weekend League – Overall Team Ratings from Week 2

After week 2 of the MUT Champions Weekend League, I recorded my opponent’s PS4 rosters and averaged out a team overall. The overalls are compared against my week 1 calculations.

The following positions were considered: QB, HB1, HB2, FB, WR1-4, TE1, TE2, LT, LG, C, RG, RT, LE, RE, DT1, DT2, LOLB, MLB, ROLB, CB1-4, FS, SS. The overalls were tallied and divided by the number of positions to come up with a team overall.

Again, there are flaws associated with calculating an overall based on the average of these positions. I should have calculated two MLB’s in 3-4 sets etc. I did not make the change for the sake of keeping it consistent with the previous week. Despite the flaws, I’m confident that this basic calculation does  continue to shed some light on a roster’s overall quality.

Here were some of the key findings from week 2:

First off, my week 2 record was 15-10 with a strength of schedule rating of 80.702.

  • Lowest OVR encountered:   78.1         (78.6 week 1)
  • Highest OVR encountered:  85.7        (85.75 week 1)
  • Average:                               83.6        (82.3 week 1)

To get a better idea of how the teams were made up, I focused on the following areas: Quarterbacks, Wide Receivers (1-4 +TE), Top Half Back, Offensive Line, Defensive Line, Linebackers and the Secondary (CB1-4+FS+SS).

Looking at these specific groupings revealed the following:

Takeaway

It is getting more and more difficult for a budget squad to compete in the Weekend League. Only two team overalls ranked at or below 80 in week 2. I’m not a world class player and I managed to beat the 78.1 rated team I encountered by a score of 58-10 (props for not quitting). During that game, I was trying to lab a bit and my 86 rated TL Tyrell Williams was treating defenders like it was arcade mode.

Last week I made the obvious prediction that the overalls would be going up “at least a point or two by next weekend.” The average overall during week 2 went up by 1.3 points. My prediction is that, with the release of TL sets, overalls will jump another 1.3-2 points next week.

Another prediction from last week was that WR overalls would be going up due to teams improving their depth at the position. This held true as the WR average went up by 1.2 overall points. A big shocker this week was that the average secondary rating only went up by .7. As a result, I expect that secondary positions will be in high demand. Teams will need to counter improved WR groups and QBs with deeper and more skilled secondaries. Look to acquire corners rated 85 + with good speed.

Based on these findings, I broke down my two most lopsided loses in search of an answer in my RTG Post. I’ve also documented tips that helped me move up 3 wins into Gold 1.
